Why Safety Certificates Matter
Customs authorities in most countries reject toys without compliance certificates and may confiscate the entire shipment. Worse, selling unsafe toys exposes you to serious legal liability.
The European CE Standard (EN71)
Mandatory for all toys sold in the EU, covering mechanical and physical properties, flammability, and migration of chemical elements.
The American ASTM F963 Standard
The reference standard in the United States, required by the CPSC along with a CPC certificate for imported toys.
The Gulf SASO Standard
Gulf countries require the Saudi SABER conformity certificate or its equivalent, covering requirements similar to EN71 plus Arabic labeling rules.
How to Verify Factory Compliance
- Request copies of test certificates from accredited labs (SGS, TÜV, Intertek).
- Confirm the certificate covers the exact product, not a similar one.
- Order a third-party pre-shipment inspection to verify production matches the approved sample.
